Spotify is expanding its new AI feature, Prompted Playlists, bringing the tool to users in the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and Sweden. The rollout follows earlier testing in New Zealand and a recent launch in the U.S. and Canada.

The tool allows listeners to build custom playlists using natural-language prompts. Instead of manually searching for songs or artists, users can describe the mood, scenario, or aesthetic they want — and Spotify generates a matching playlist automatically.

To access the feature, users tap Create → Prompted Playlist and enter a prompt in English.

With Prompted Playlists, you can type just about anything in English—from a specific mood or memory to a hyper-specific aesthetic or cultural moment—and Spotify will turn it into a personalized playlist.

The system is designed to interpret a wide range of signals, including moods, aesthetics, activities, musical eras, genres, lyrics, instruments, or even references to films and TV shows. Users can also indicate whether they prefer mostly new discoveries or tracks already present in their library.

Prompted Playlist analyzes the listener’s full streaming history and blends it with broader music and cultural trends. Each generated track is accompanied by a short one-line explanation describing why it was selected.

After submitting a prompt, the system generates a tailored playlist that reflects both personal listening patterns and what is currently trending. Users can further refine results by editing the prompt or starting over entirely.

Example prompt:
“Make a playlist of British pop bangers from the ‘00s that made me the diva I am today. Add the top tracks I’ve replayed and fill the gaps with era-defining hits I might have missed.”

For users with constantly evolving tastes, playlists can also be set to refresh automatically on a daily or weekly schedule.

The feature remains in beta. Spotify notes that functionality may change as feedback comes in, and usage limits are currently in place, some users report hitting caps after roughly 20–30 prompts.
