Samsung has officially announced plans to transform all of its global manufacturing sites into AI-managed factories by 2030.
This goes beyond the automation long used in electronics plants. The company is aiming for fully autonomous systems capable of making independent decisions. The foundation of the strategy is Agentic AI.
Unlike conventional algorithms, this type of intelligence can independently plan and execute tasks to achieve defined goals without constant human supervision. Samsung first used the term in the consumer segment for the Galaxy S26 smartphone series and is now bringing the technology into industrial settings to sharply boost efficiency and reduce costs.
To implement the plan, Samsung has divided its future mechanical workforce into three categories: operational robots, logistics robots, and assembly robots. Particular focus is placed on humanoid robots designed to replace humans in tasks that require flexibility and dexterity. A key partner is Rainbow Robotics, part of the Samsung group. One of the first systems expected on production lines is RB-Y1, a wheeled android with two arms capable of performing complex manipulations in spaces originally designed for humans.
