Google rolls out Nano Banana-powered Pics image editor for Workspace

Google has begun rolling out Google Pics, an AI-powered image creation and editing tool built for Workspace. Powered by the latest version of Nano Banana, Google’s image-generation model family, the service is designed as a Canva-style editor integrated into the company’s productivity apps.

First unveiled in May 2026, Pics will become available over the next few weeks to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and most Workspace business customers. The editor will work both as a standalone product and within Slides, Docs and Drive, allowing users to create and modify images while working on a document or presentation rather than switching to a separate design tool. Google says the Drive integration will be completed in the coming weeks.

Among its core features, Pics can isolate and edit individual objects without altering the rest of an image, replace or translate text while preserving the original layout and typography, generate several variations from a single prompt and let multiple people work on the same visual. The text editing and translation tools could be particularly useful for localization, since graphics can be adapted for different languages without manually recreating the original design in a separate image editor.
