Samsung is preparing to introduce a new feature called Network Battery Saver in its upcoming One UI 8.5 update, based on Android 16 QPR2. The feature is designed to extend battery life by intelligently reducing network activity when the device is idle.
According to Android Authority, which analyzed the code of early firmware builds, Galaxy smartphones will be able to automatically slow down mobile data when the user isn’t actively using the device — for instance, overnight or while sleeping. This approach reduces the modem’s workload and helps conserve battery power.
To ensure the feature works accurately, users will be prompted to allow the system to collect statistics about their typical internet usage. These insights are processed locally through Samsung’s Personal Data Engine, which analyzes user habits to determine the best times to activate the power-saving mode.
The Network Battery Saver is expected to be one of the headline additions in One UI 8.5 and, according to insiders, will roll out to Galaxy devices in upcoming software updates.
