Rolls-Royce, the renowned luxury car manufacturer, has set its sights on the future of electric vehicles (EVs) with its latest offering, the Rolls-Royce Spectre 2024.

The massive battery-powered coupe represents a significant shift for the brand, demonstrating that the EV future is nothing to fear. With an entry price of £330,000, the Spectre aims to attract new buyers while maintaining its appeal to loyal customers.

Despite the switch to electric powertrains, Rolls-Royce has kept its iconic design elements, including the long bonnet, rear-hinged coach doors, and imposing presence. The Spectre is positioned as the spiritual successor to the 2008 Phantom Coupe and embodies the brand's commitment to continuous improvement.

During a test drive in California's Napa Valley, the Spectre demonstrated stable acceleration, emphasizing smooth and refined driving rather than blistering speed. Rolls-Royce deliberately introduced a slight delay in acceleration to ensure a more comfortable 0-60mph dash, taking 4.4 seconds.

With a large battery on board and the typical Rolls-Royce host of hefty trim materials and interior comforts, the Spectre is one of the heaviest cars on the market.

With a 102kWh battery, the Spectre offers a WLTP range of 329 miles, although real-world range may vary depending on external conditions and in-car technology usage.

The interior reflects the luxury expected of a Rolls-Royce, with signature Starlight Headliner with thousands of fiber-optic lights, a digital dashboard display and an advanced Spirit digital architecture, making it the most advanced Rolls-Royce to date.

Customization plays a significant role in the Spectre ownership experience, with pricing starting at around $422,750. Rolls-Royce reports that a significant portion of orders are coming from new customers, which underscores the model's appeal to more than just existing fans of the brand.

The company has already sold out about 2,500 units, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in November 2023.
