During a companywide meeting with Meta employees, Mark Zuckerberg shared his thoughts on Apple's recently unveiled Vision Pro headset, indicating that it didn't offer any significant technological breakthroughs that Meta hadn't already explored.
The CEO expressed that Apple's vision for the device was not aligned with his own, highlighting Meta's upcoming Quest 3 headset as a more affordable alternative that could reach a wider user base.
Zuckerberg emphasized the difference in values and vision between Meta and Apple.
As per Zuckerberg, Meta's Quest headset aimed to enable people to interact in new ways and feel a sense of closeness, while also encouraging physical activity and engagement. In contrast, he noted that Apple's demonstrations primarily showed individuals sitting alone on a couch, it could be a potential vision for the future of computing but not the one he desired.
Meta recently unveiled its own Quest 3 headset, though it won't be available until the fall. Meta invests billions of dollars each year to establish itself as a leader in virtual and augmented reality. However, the arrival of Apple's headset poses a serious competitive challenge.
