Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin has announced the launch of its new satellite communications project, TeraWave.

The network is not aimed at consumers, but at corporate customers, including data centers, government agencies, and large enterprises.

The constellation will include 5,280 satellites in low Earth orbit, delivering data speeds of up to 144 Gbps, as well as another 128 satellites in medium Earth orbit capable of up to 6 Tbps. Deployment is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027, with no timeline disclosed for full completion.

The TeraWave announcement comes just months after the rebranding of Bezos’ other satellite initiative, Amazon Leo (formerly Project Kuiper), which targets the mass market with more than 3,000 LEO satellites. Blue Origin stresses that the two projects are not direct competitors: TeraWave is designed for customers that require ultra-high speeds and rapid scalability.

Blue Origin is also continuing to expand its launch services. In November 2025, the company successfully launched its heavy-lift New Glenn rocket and achieved the first successful landing of its reusable first stage.
