Contrary to widespread expectations of rising prices, the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup may remain relatively affordable. That’s according to 9to5Mac, citing forecasts from JPMorgan.
The investment bank has published an unexpectedly optimistic outlook for iPhone 17 pricing. Their analysis suggests that most models will keep last year’s price points or see only minimal increases.
Forecasts:
The standard iPhone 17 will stay at $799 with no changes. The iPhone 17 Air, set to replace the Plus model, is expected to cost between $899 and $949 — a maximum increase of just $50.
The only model facing a noticeable price jump is the iPhone 17 Pro, rising to $1,099 from the current $999. However, this increase is offset by a doubled base storage, from 128GB to 256GB.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max will remain at $1,199 — a surprising move for the flagship model. Buyers will effectively get the same 256GB storage for last year’s price; in 2024, that tier cost $1,099 with the iPhone 16 Pro.
The new iPhone 17 Air’s slim form factor may justify its slight premium. Despite reduced camera and battery capabilities, its ultra-thin design gives the model added appeal.
If JPMorgan’s projections prove accurate, customers will see nearly the same pricing range as last year. That would be a welcome surprise in a market where electronics have been trending more expensive and many analysts had predicted a significant iPhone price hike.
