Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has addressed the decision to release Grand Theft Auto VI on consoles first, confirming that a PC version will not be available at launch.
According to Zelnick, the priority is to serve the game’s core audience first, which, in this case, does not appear to include PC players. He noted that without delivering a strong experience to primary users, it is difficult to expand to other player groups, Bloomberg reports.
At the same time, PC versions have historically accounted for around 45–50% of sales for major multiplatform titles from Take-Two over the past two decades. This suggests that a PC release for GTA VI is highly likely, but will come later.
Zelnick also dismissed speculation about a potential exclusivity deal with Sony, stating that Rockstar has traditionally launched its games on consoles first.
GTA VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Based on reports of intense development efforts, Rockstar appears determined to meet the planned deadline.
