On March 19, Pavel Durov hinted on X (formerly Twitter) at the integration of Elon Musk’s generative AI.

On March 20, Durov’s Code discovered a bot with unusual characteristics that don’t align with Telegram’s public rules.

  • The bot uses a standard, non-collectible username—without the "_bot" suffix—while successfully displaying custom emojis.
  • According to current Bot API rules, only bots with collectible usernames purchased via Fragment are allowed to use custom emojis.
  • At the same time, linking a collectible username without the "_bot" suffix requires payment, but this username isn’t even marked as collectible.
  • However, as of publication, the bot does not have Telegram’s verification badge.

The bot allows users to engage in extended conversations for free, but only if they have a Telegram Premium subscription.

That said, the Grok model used here doesn’t generate responses as comprehensively or accurately as the original chatbot in X.
