Google has updated its Quick Share service to make it compatible with Apple’s AirDrop, enabling fast cross-platform file transfers.
Android and iOS devices can now directly exchange photos, videos and other files. Pixel 10 users are the first to receive the update, with broader Android support rolling out gradually.
As noted by TechCrunch, iPhone users need to switch AirDrop to “Everyone for 10 Minutes” for their device to appear as a recipient when an Android user selects Quick Share. Google says this is only the beginning. The company aims to enable support for the Contacts Only mode as well, removing the current time limitation and making transfers more seamless.
Google also emphasizes that the system was built with security in mind and underwent an audit by independent cybersecurity experts. The company says the feature is part of its broader effort to improve Android–iOS interoperability, following previous pushes around RCS adoption and alerts for unknown tracking devices.
