Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung, alleging that the company unlawfully used her likeness to sell televisions, Variety reports.
The artist accuses the corporation of unauthorized commercial exploitation of her image. According to the complaint, Samsung began printing a photograph of the singer on the cardboard packaging of its televisions last year, without obtaining her permission or paying any licensing fee.
When Dua Lipa learned about the use of her image, she demanded its immediate removal from the product packaging. Samsung representatives declined the request, and their response is described in the lawsuit as "dismissive and callous."
The filing states that the artist holds full copyright over the photograph in question, which was taken backstage at the Austin City Limits music festival in 2024.
The singer's legal team also cited comments from users on X, where several customers said they had purchased the television specifically because Dua Lipa's image appeared on the box.
The complaint emphasizes that Dua Lipa maintains a carefully managed "premium brand" and is highly selective about her advertising partnerships. The case, which includes claims of copyright and trademark infringement, will be heard in the Central District of California.
Samsung has not yet responded to media inquiries, and no official comment has been issued by the company.
