ChatGPT hasn’t stopped offering medical and legal guidance even after OpenAI updated its terms of use to prohibit it. Despite the company’s statements banning advice that requires a professional license, the chatbot’s behavior appears unchanged.
On October 29, OpenAI revised its ChatGPT usage policies, explicitly stating that the model cannot provide advice on legal or health matters, as those require the involvement of licensed professionals.
However, OpenAI’s Head of HealthAI, Karan Singhal, dismissed the reports in a post on X: “Not true. Despite speculation, this is not a new change to our terms. Model behavior remains unchanged.”
ChatGPT still delivers responses that sound remarkably like those of a real doctor. It also handles legal topics with confidence, explaining complex terms and suggesting potential courses of action.
OpenAI representatives emphasize that ChatGPT has never been intended to replace professional consultation. Its responses are based on publicly available information and should not be taken as official expert advice.
