Google Maps yesterday announced the most popular sights «visited» by the Street View feature in the MENA region.

According to Google Maps, the ten most famous places in Street View in MENA in the past year included 4 Emirati destinations, headed by the Burj Khalifa. Top Emirati destinations on the list also embraced the Burj Al Arab Hotel, the Dubai Fountain and Dubai International Airport.

For the first time Street View was launched in MENA in 2013 in the UAE. Since that time the feature helped people all around the world to discover the most prominent sights of the region, including landmarks in Jordan, Tunisia, holy places in Saudi Arabia, the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx in Egypt and more.

The Street View feature provides an opportunity to discover different historical and cultural landmarks by taking 360-degree images that can be viewed via mobile or computer screens. Users can also see historical photos of some of these sites via the Street View feature to explore and track the changes that took place during different time periods.
