According to a new report from The Information, Apple's Siri and AI teams are facing major organizational dysfunction and a lack of ambition, which has led to the company falling behind its competitors in AI technology.

The report is based on interviews with over three dozen former employees who worked in the AI and machine learning groups. The lack of progress has led some Apple employees to question the future of Siri and the company's AI efforts.

The report also highlights employee retention as a major issue, with three of Apple's Siri engineers, Srinivasan Venkatachary, Steven Baker, and Anand Shukla, leaving to join Google.

Despite Apple's efforts to improve Siri, the platform remains "widely derided" by employees, and the company's Reality Pro headset team has reportedly considered building alternative methods for controlling the headset with voice technology due to frustrations with Siri.
