YouTube has announced it will shut down its “Trending” section in the coming weeks, bringing an end to the feature after a decade of service.

According to the company, the tab no longer reflects users’ evolving interests, as trends have become more personalized and diverse over time.

In place of a single feed of popular videos, YouTube will offer viewers curated content through themed charts and specialized collections — including categories like Trending Music Videos, Weekly Top Podcast Shows and Trending Movie Trailers. The platform also plans to expand these categories in the future.

YouTube noted that when the “Trending” section launched in 2015, it played a key role in helping users discover viral content. But with the growing variety of formats and the rise of local and niche trends, a unified feed has become less relevant.

The company says it will continue to focus on personalized recommendations and provide creators with tools to better understand their audience’s preferences.
