Apple has introduced updated MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops powered by the M5 series processors, according to the company’s official press releases.
MacBook Pro
The refreshed 14-inch and 16-inch models feature the high-performance M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. They deliver up to four times faster AI performance compared to the previous generation.
Base storage now starts at 1 TB for M5 Pro configurations and 2 TB for M5 Max models. SSD speeds have doubled, reaching up to 14.5 GB/s.
The laptops include a new N1 chip with support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Apple claims up to 24 hours of battery life, along with advanced Thunderbolt 5 ports.
MacBook Air
The 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models now run on the base M5 processor. The chip accelerates AI workloads by up to four times compared with M4-based models.
Minimum storage in MacBook Air has doubled to 512 GB. Like the Pro lineup, Air models also feature the N1 chip for next-generation wireless connectivity.
The laptops retain their fanless silent design and offer up to 18 hours of battery life. For peripherals, they include two Thunderbolt 4 ports.
All new devices run macOS Tahoe with Apple Intelligence features. Preorders begin March 4, with general availability starting March 11.
MacBook Air pricing starts at $1,099 for the 13-inch version. The base 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip starts at $2,199.
