The app is now available for download from the App Store, offering subscribers access to more than 5 million tracks.

Developed from the acquisition of Primephonic, the app is designed to handle the complex metadata often associated with classical music recordings and includes features such as curated playlists and composer biographies to help listeners get better acquainted with the genre. The app provides the highest audio quality (up to 192 kHz/24-bit Hi-Res Lossless).

However, the app does have some limitations. It is not available for subscribers to the Apple Music Voice Plan and does not offer a native iPad version at launch. Additionally, it does not allow for offline music downloads.

Despite these restrictions, the launch of Apple Music Classical is a significant step for classical music fans and could represent a new avenue for the classical music industry to reach a wider audience.
