Amazon is preparing to launch smart augmented reality glasses under the codename Jayhawk, Reuters reports, citing The Information.
The device could debut in late 2026 or early 2027, positioned as a direct competitor to Meta’s upcoming AR hardware.
According to sources, the glasses will feature microphones, speakers, a camera, and a color display in one lens. This is not Amazon’s first attempt in the space: the company previously worked on a specialized version for delivery drivers, designed to show navigation prompts and assist with logistics. The initial run of that model was expected to be limited to around 100,000 units.
Both versions are expected to use the same displays, but the consumer model will be lighter, less bulky, and easier to wear day-to-day. Unlike the courier version, the consumer Jayhawk will join Amazon’s electronics lineup and go head-to-head with Meta’s glasses developed in partnership with Oakley and Ray-Ban.
