YouTube rolls out new miniplayer, sleep timer, and more features

YouTube has officially launched several new features for its mobile app on Android and iOS, including a redesigned miniplayer and additional user controls.

The new miniplayer now looks like a picture-in-picture window, allowing users to resize and move it while watching videos.

A sleep timer is also available, with customizable increments from 10 minutes to the end of a video. Additionally, YouTube introduced fine-tunable playback speeds with a new slider for precise control.

Collaborative playlists and custom thumbnails are now supported, and badges will soon be visible on users' profiles.

We’re starting with just a few at launch, with badges that celebrate unique-to-YouTube milestones, such as being one of the first set of paid members of a creator’s channel, or correctly completing quizzes. Users can even earn badges for being a top listener of their favorite artist or having a creator heart your comment.”
