At Tesla's recent Cybercab event, its Optimus robots made a big impression by interacting with guests, serving drinks, and even talking.

However, despite the impressive display, it was revealed that the robots were not fully autonomous. According to reports, including insights from attendees and analysts, humans were "remote assisting" the robots during the event, guiding their interactions and responses.

While the robots appeared to react seamlessly to verbal and visual cues, videos and comments from the event indicate that human intervention played a significant role in their performance. Tesla did not hide this fact, as some of the robots even humorously admitted to being assisted by humans when asked about their autonomy.

So, the event offered little insight into the actual progress Tesla has made in humanoid robot development.
