Apple Watch SE to get plastic chassis in next upgrade

The upcoming Apple Watch SE might feature a hard plastic chassis, potentially replacing its current aluminum build, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

This change aims to reduce costs and appeal to parents seeking affordable, durable smartwatches for their children. Apple has launched a new campaign highlighting the benefits of Apple Watches for kids, such as location tracking, communication with parents, and activity monitoring.

The switch to plastic could also provide a variety of bright colors reminiscent of the plastic iPhone 5c.

The move to plastic might enable Apple to offer the new Apple Watch SE at a lower price, enhancing its competitiveness against other budget-friendly smartwatches. The refreshed model could be introduced later this year.
