Ford has announced that its new Android-powered infotainment system will be available in the 2025 Ford Explorer, marking the first time this technology is included in a Ford-branded vehicle. This system, known as the Digital Experience, initially debuted with the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus.

The system includes built-in Google Maps, Google Play Store, Google Assistant, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and digital HVAC controls. The Explorer will have a 13.2-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that can project maps.

Following Ford's redesigned Maverick truck, the Explorer moves its HVAC controls to the touchscreen. Ford plans to include this Android-based system in its electric vehicles like the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E, adapting the interface to different screen sizes and orientations.
