Google DeepMind co-founder to head Microsoft's new AI division

Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of Google DeepMind, is making a significant move to Microsoft, where he will lead the tech giant's new consumer-focused AI division.

In an announcement on X, Suleyman revealed his role as the CEO of this new division, which will oversee the development of key AI products such as Copilot, Bing, and Edge.

Suleyman, who co-founded DeepMind in 2010 before its acquisition by Google in 2014, brings a wealth of experience in AI innovation and leadership. Despite his departure from DeepMind several years ago, his expertise remains highly regarded in the industry.

Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, expressed his enthusiasm for Suleyman's appointment, emphasizing the potential for groundbreaking technological advancements under his leadership. Nadella highlighted Microsoft's mission to democratize AI and ensure its responsible and widespread integration across various sectors.

This announcement comes as Microsoft continues to invest heavily in AI, including partnerships with OpenAI and AI startup Mistral.
