The space agency is launching its second yearlong simulated Mars mission, known as CHAPEA 2, in spring 2025.
Selected crew members will live in a 1,700-square-foot 3D-printed habitat in Houston that mimics life on the red planet. Volunteers will perform tasks such as habitat maintenance and crop cultivation, as well as simulate a spacewalk in a 1,200-square-foot sandbox.
Applicants must be US citizens aged 30-55, hold a master's degree in STEM field, and have relevant professional experience. Applications are open until April 2 on the CHAPEA website.
