The cinematic video captures the launch of the Starship, a 395-foot giant that holds the potential to transport astronauts to destinations like the moon and Mars.
The footage provides viewers with a close-up look at the Super Heavy booster and the Starship spacecraft taking into the sky during the November 18 launch from SpaceX's Starbase facility in Boca Chica, Texas.
The video includes pivotal moments such as the stage separation, a critical maneuver where the upper stage Starship disconnects from the booster, and the subsequent explosive conclusions for both components.
Despite the explosions, SpaceX considers the mission a success, emphasizing that it was able to separate the stages, a crucial step that failed during the first test flight in April.
“What we did with this second flight will provide invaluable data to continue rapidly developing Starship,” SpaceX said in comments accompanying the video.
Looking ahead, SpaceX is gearing up for its third Starship test flight, which should take place before the end of the year, subject to clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA is currently investigating last month's flight, and once completed will determine any conditions necessary to issue a launch authorization.
