Spotify, the popular music streaming platform, is reportedly working on AI-powered playlists that users can create using prompts, according to tech veteran Chris Messina, who discovered references in the app's code.

The AI playlists could be linked to the Blend feature, which lets users mix their musical preferences to create shared playlists. There are also code references suggesting that users might be able to invite others to collaborate on AI playlists.

Spotify has declined to officially confirm its plans regarding AI playlists but has been exploring the integration of AI in various features. For instance, it recently introduced an AI-powered DJ feature and added support for AI-translated podcasts. The company may leverage generative AI to enhance the playlist creation process further.

While Spotify already offers Niche mixes, which allow users to create playlists based on descriptions, these are not AI-powered but rely on the platform's personalization technology and algorithms. Messina's discovery suggests that Spotify is actively developing AI-generated playlists using prompts, but the feature is not yet publicly available.

While Spotify hasn't officially announced AI-generated playlists, the discovery hints at the platform's ongoing efforts to innovate and offer more personalized music recommendations to its users.
