The popular social media platform is taking steps to enhance transparency regarding AI-generated content.

TikTok is rolling out a new toolset that allows users to label posts created or enhanced by artificial intelligence. This initiative follows TikTok's introduction of filters and an image generator that utilize AI for video uploads.

To make it clear which filters rely on generative AI, TikTok is renaming these filters to include "AI" in their names. These labels are not limited to TikTok-approved filters; users can apply them to any content that has been significantly edited or generated by AI, regardless of the source.

TikTok is also developing its own algorithm to automatically label AI-generated posts in the future. This move aims to ensure accurate labeling and compliance with community guidelines. TikTok has been working closely with its safety advisory councils, industry experts, and academic professionals to develop these tools.

The platform will also collaborate with the nonprofit organization Digital Moment to host roundtables for discussions on AI advancement with young community members.

These initiatives aim to help viewers understand the nature of AI-generated content, prevent the spread of misleading information, and promote responsible AI practices on TikTok.
