Honda is bringing back the 80s by introducing the all-electric Motocompacto, a modern version of the Honda Motocompo scooter.
The new Motocompacto retains its original folding design, which, when folded, resembles a compact table on wheels. To turn it into a scooter, users pull out the handlebars, seat and rear wheel.
Despite the Motocompacto's quirky appearance, it is categorized as a lightweight e-bike and weighs 41 pounds. It has a range of up to 12 miles on a single charge and takes 3.5 hours to fully recharge. The built-in charger allows user to conveniently plug it into a 110V outlet for recharging. This scooter is designed for easy transportation and is ideal for city dwellers who need a convenient and portable electric vehicle.
The Motocompacto model is part of Honda's broader electric vehicle (EV) strategy to switch its entire lineup to battery-electric and fuel-cell-electric vehicles by 2040. Priced at "under $995," the Motocompacto will be available starting in November, exclusively through Honda's website and at Honda and Acura dealerships.
