In a recent Telegram post, Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, revealed that the highly anticipated Stories feature will soon be implemented on the messaging platform.

The request for Stories has been one of the most frequently made feature requests from Telegram users.

Initially hesitant because of the widespread adoption of Stories on other platforms, Telegram eventually decided to listen to its users and innovate with the existing format. The Telegram team aims to implement Stories in a way that is aligned with the platform's core principles.

Durov outlined several key features of Telegram Stories that set it apart from other implementations:

  1. Privacy: Users will be able to control who can see their stories, choosing between all, only contacts (with exceptions), selected contacts, or a list of Close Friends.
  2. Compact UI: Stories will be presented in an expandable section at the top of the chat list, ensuring easy accessibility without occupying excessive space.
  3. Flexibility: Users will be able to hide Stories from specific contacts, moving them to a "Hidden" list in the Contacts section rather than appearing on the main screen.
  4. Captions: Telegram's Stories will offer powerful photo and video-editing tools, along with the ability to provide captions to add context, links, and tag other users.
  5. Dual Camera Support: Building on the success of Telegram's Video Messages, the platform will allow users to post photos and videos taken by both the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
  6. Optional Ephemerality: Users will have the option to set an expiration time for their stories, ranging from 6, 12, 24, or 48 hours, or choose to display them permanently on their profile page, with customizable privacy settings for each story.
  7. More surprises: Telegram promises additional surprises that will enhance the Stories experience for users.

Stories are currently in the final testing phase and are expected to be available to users in early July.

The introduction of Stories on Telegram will not only make profiles more vibrant and informative but also enable users to explore more content from their closest contacts.
