Abu Dhabi has announced an initiative to leverage AI-generated data from Google in order to reduce traffic congestion and enhance mobility in the emirate.

The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport has signed agreements with Google, opening the way for two transformative projects: Project Green Light and AI-powered traffic forecasting.

Under Project Green Light, the ITC will utilize AI techniques to collect and analyze data from traffic intersections. This data will then be used to generate recommendations aimed at optimizing traffic light efficiency, thus alleviating congestion and reducing carbon emissions.

The collaboration with Google's AI platform will also involve the analysis of extensive data from Google Maps to forecast traffic patterns and congestion hotspots.
