According to a research note by Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong International Securities, the upcoming iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will be equipped with a 48-megapixel camera lens.
However, the new three-stacked sensor being used in these models is experiencing yield issues that could result in production delays. Despite the potential setbacks, the devices are still slated to launch in September.
The new lens will allow for improved image quality by capturing more light, as compared to the current models. Apple first introduced a 48-megapixel camera lens on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max last year, which allowed users to shoot 48-megapixel ProRAW photos, retaining more detail in the image file for editing purposes.
Pu had earlier reported that iPhone 15 Pro models would no longer feature solid-state buttons due to design issues, but will feature a titanium frame, an upgraded A17 Bionic chip, and 8GB of RAM. The analyst also reiterated that all four iPhone 15 models will have a USB-C port.
