Etihad Rail has announced the launch of passenger services starting June 30, 2026, with the introductory phase covering the Abu Dhabi to Fujairah route.

The journey between Mohammed bin Zayed City Passenger Train Station and Al Hilal Station in Fujairah will take one hour and 45 minutes.

The full network will roll out across the UAE in phases through early 2027, eventually connecting all seven emirates across 11 cities on a 900-kilometer rail corridor. Annual passenger capacity is expected to reach 36.5 million by 2030.

Launch timeline

  • June 30, 2026 — Introductory phase launches with Abu Dhabi and Fujairah stations
  • September 30, 2026 — Dubai (Jumeirah Golf Estates) and Al Dhaid stations open, marking the official network launch
  • December 30, 2026 — Al Dhafra stations come online
  • March 30, 2027 — Sharjah station opens, completing the full route

Station locations

The first 11 passenger stations will be located at:

  • Mohamed bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi
  • Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai
  • University City, Sharjah
  • Al Hilal, Fujairah
  • Al Sila, Abu Dhabi
  • Al Dhannah, Abu Dhabi
  • Al Mirfa, Abu Dhabi
  • Madinat Zayed, Abu Dhabi
  • Mezairaa, Abu Dhabi
  • Al Faya, Abu Dhabi
  • Al Dhaid, Sharjah

A station at Al Maktoum International Airport is also planned.

Journey times and fares

  • Abu Dhabi to Dubai: 50 minutes
  • Dubai to Fujairah: 50 minutes
  • Abu Dhabi to Fujairah: 1 hour 45 minutes
  • Abu Dhabi to Al Ruwais: 1 hour 10 minutes

Fares on the Abu Dhabi to Fujairah route start at AED 55 for Comfort Class and AED 120 for Premium Class. The fleet consists of 13 trains, each with a capacity of up to 400 passengers.

Tickets and journey bookings will be available through the Etihad Rail mobile app and official website starting June 23, ahead of the service launch.

On board

Trains will feature Economy, Business, Family, and First Class seating options, with charging ports, infotainment systems, dining, and generous legroom. Stations will include cafés, restaurants, retail outlets, and smart transport connections for onward travel.
