Apple Maps could see a significant change with the iOS 17 update, according to a rumor shared by anonymous Twitter leaker Analyst 941.

The rumored update will reportedly offer a new Lock Screen Live Activities overhaul that would give Maps a makeover, similar to Apple Music.

The new design would feature a 2/3 view for Maps with the time and date remaining in the top 1/3, with the possibility of resizing the view to the lower 1/3 size to match how Apple Music and other apps show up on the Lock Screen.

This would allow users to access notifications by swiping up, just as they can with any other Live Activities-supported integration.

While the rumor remains unverified, Analyst 941 says the update is confirmed to be coming in iOS 17, which will be officially unveiled at the WWDC.
