Norwegian robotics company 1X has opened preorders for NEO, a humanoid AI-powered home robot designed to autonomously handle everyday household tasks.

Standing at 1.68 meters tall, NEO is available for a one-time purchase of $20,000 or via a $499 monthly subscription. The robot features the company’s Tendon Drive locomotion system with high-torque motors and a 3D-polymer cushioning layer for safety. It even comes dressed in a turtleneck for added protection when interacting with humans.

Its powerful motors allow it to lift objects weighing up to 24.95 kilograms while keeping noise levels at just 22 dB. NEO is equipped with two 8-megapixel cameras, four 360-degree microphones, and three speakers, enabling full interaction with its owners.

The robot’s AI runs on Nvidia’s Jetson Thor platform and stores all conversations locally. NEO can access the internet to look up information and learn new tasks through remote instruction from 1X’s human experts.

Weighing 29.94 kilograms, the robot’s arms have 22 degrees of freedom, allowing for a wide range of motion when performing chores. With 5G connectivity, NEO can operate both indoors and outdoors in dry conditions.

A 0.75 kWh battery provides up to four hours of autonomous operation, after which the robot automatically returns to its charging station.

The company first revealed plans for a humanoid home robot in February 2025, though at the time no technical details, launch date, or pricing were disclosed.
