Anthropic is rolling out Personal Finance, a feature that lets Claude analyze balances, transactions and bills across linked bank and credit card accounts. The beta is rolling out to U.S. subscribers on the Pro, Max and Ultra plans.

Claude can group spending across accounts by category and show which bills are coming up. Anthropic says it can also flag possible duplicate charges, unexpected fees and bills that have crept up over time. Users can ask for a spending chart or an explanation of a term on their credit card statement, such as APR.

What Claude can see

Users sign in to their bank through Plaid and choose which accounts to share. Claude gets read-only access, so it can analyze spending without being able to move or invest money. Anthropic says Claude can read:

  • Bank names, account names and types, and the last four digits of account numbers
  • Balances and credit limits
  • Up to two years of transaction history

Claude never sees the bank password. Anthropic says it excludes Personal Finance conversations from model training, and regular chats follow the user’s usual privacy settings. The feature carries no ads or sponsored recommendations. Anthropic advises users to check important figures against their bank statements.

What happens if you disconnect a bank

Anthropic says users can unlink a bank under Manage linked accounts in Personal Finance or revoke access through Plaid. Claude then stops reading the accounts linked through that bank login. Figures it already included in chats, shared links or artifacts stay there until users remove them separately. Unlinking the last bank also resets the dashboard and clears saved budgets and widget settings.

OpenAI introduced a similar feature in May, also using Plaid to connect financial accounts to ChatGPT.
