YouTube has begun systematically removing low-quality AI-generated content, targeting large channels built around automated production and synthetic engagement.
According to a report by video editing platform Kapwing, the cleanup started in November 2025. Since then, 16 of the 100 most-subscribed AI-driven channels have either been fully removed from YouTube or had all of their content deleted.
Among the affected channels are CuentosFacianantes, which had 5.9 million subscribers and more than 1.2 billion views, and Imperio de Jesus with over 5.8 million subscribers. Super Cat League, previously the seventh most-subscribed channel in this category, has also been taken down or stripped of its video library.
Combined, the 16 channels generated more than 35 million subscribers, around 4.7 billion lifetime views, and nearly $10 million in annual revenue. Some channels were removed entirely, while others remain online without any published videos.
Kapwing notes that YouTube does not appear to be using a new enforcement framework. Instead, the platform is likely applying its existing spam and clickbait-combatting systems to identify AI-generated content designed to maximize engagement at scale. These channels relied heavily on automated production and synthetic engagement, flooding the platform with repetitive videos optimized for clicks rather than originality.
