Microsoft has begun rolling out a redesigned Start menu for Windows 11 as part of the optional KB5067036 update, now available for versions 25H2 and 24H2.
Previously tested through the Windows Insider program, the refreshed menu is now being introduced to stable builds of the operating system.

The main change is a complete overhaul of the Start menu’s structure and layout logic. Users can now personalize the interface by hiding unnecessary sections and removing pinned or recommended apps and files.

There’s also a new way to view all installed programs: either as a traditional grid or grouped by category. In the latter mode, Windows automatically organizes apps by type, similar to how iOS and iPadOS handle app libraries.
The updated Start menu is now more adaptive, scaling its layout based on screen size. Devices with larger displays will show more icons at once. The KB5067036 update is being rolled out gradually and remains optional, meaning users can install it manually through Windows Update.
