Indian software developer Soham Parekh has become the center of online discussion after multiple founders accused him of deceiving startups by acing interviews but failing to deliver on the job.
The story surfaced after Mixpanel founder Suhail Doshi posted a warning on X:
PSA: there’s a guy named Soham Parekh (in India) who works at 3-4 startups at the same time. He’s been preying on YC companies and more. Beware.
I fired this guy in his first week and told him to stop lying / scamming people. He hasn’t stopped a year later. No more excuses.
Doshi also shared Parekh’s résumé, claiming that 90% of the information was false.
The post quickly gained traction, prompting responses from other tech startup leaders. Justin Harvey, co-founder of AIVideo, said he nearly hired Parekh — but backed out after noticing issues during the internship.
Flo Crivello, founder of Lindy, said he let Parekh go after just one week. Matthew Parkhurst, CEO of Antimental, also reported cutting ties after discovering the developer was juggling multiple jobs.
According to Nikolay Uvarov, CEO of Fleet AI, Parekh has been running this scheme for four years — repeatedly joining startups, then missing deadlines and citing personal issues as excuses.
Doshi later said Parekh reached out after the post, expressed regret, and asked if his career was now “completely over” — and what he could do to fix it. Parekh has not made any public statements so far.
Soham Parekh isn’t the only one. On Reddit, the r/overemployed community — with over 437,000 members — shares tips and stories about working at three or more companies at once, often earning close to $1 million a year from stacked remote jobs.
