A new feature called “Advanced Chat Privacy” has quietly rolled out on WhatsApp for both iOS and Android users.
The update allows users to block chat history exports and stop media from being saved automatically. Once enabled, participants in both individual and group chats can no longer export conversations outside the app or auto-save shared photos and videos to their devices.
According to WhatsApp’s blog, the feature adds an extra layer of control over personal information.
To turn it on, users need to go into the settings of a specific chat and select “Advanced Chat Privacy.”
However, the feature doesn’t prevent screenshots or manual saving — meaning full protection from content copying is still not possible.
