OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is reportedly testing a pro version of the popular AI chatbot, which would cost $42 per month. According to a recent poll by Fishbowl, a publication covering workplace trends, nearly 30% of professional workers have used ChatGPT at work. People are currently using the free version for a variety of purposes, such as messaging on dating apps, writing essays for school, and even creating malware.

However, there are rumors that OpenAI is looking for ways to monetize the success of ChatGPT. Recently, the company began offering early access to "ChatGPT Professional," a version that includes faster response times, no blackout windows, and the ability to send more messages than the regular daily limit.

Earlier this month, OpenAI opened a waitlist for ChatGPT Professional and requested that potential users indicate their primary usage for the product and provide their suggested pricing.

"If you are selected, we’ll reach out to you to set up a payment process and a pilot," the waitlist read. "Please keep in mind that this is an early experimental program that is subject to change, and we are not making paid pro access generally available at this time."

Although some users claim to have been given access to ChatGPT Professional for a monthly fee of $42, OpenAI has not officially announced the launch of this tool or confirmed the pricing.
