YouGov conducted a survey that examined how UAE residents perceive cryptocurrencies compared to other countries around the world.

The majority of UAE residents (40%) in the 25-34 age group associate cryptocurrency as a means of money transfer and online payments, while those over 55 (35%) are unaware of why they need it.

Meanwhile, 33% of the UAE youth group surveyed see cryptocurrency as an investment, while 23% think cryptocurrency is a waste of time and money.

Overall, UAE residents' views on cryptocurrency are almost evenly divided. 34% of UAE residents see cryptocurrency as an investment/speculation to make money. Another 35% think of cryptocurrency as a way to make online payments and money transfers, while another 34% associate it with illegal activities.

The survey is based on responses from 1,130 adults respondents.
