The UAE Ministry of Economy has unveiled the Entrepreneurial Nation 2.0 programme at GITEX GLOBAL 2022, the world's largest technology and start-up event. Also, Japanese space technology start-ups are exploring new cooperation opportunities with the UAE, as the GITEX press service told Durov’s Code.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Touk Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, has announced the launch of the Entrepreneurial Nation 2.0 initiative, which aims to develop 8,000 SMEs and create 20 “unicorns,” or start-ups with a valuation of $1 billion or more, by 2031.
The UAE will join forces with Saudi Arabia, India, South Korea and Latvia to highlight the potential of UAE start-ups and SMEs on the global stage.
The second phase of the Entrepreneur Nation project, which brings together the public and private sectors, aims to open up new channels of access to more opportunities, helping start-ups and SMEs grow and expand their businesses from the UAE to various other global markets.
The first phase supported entrepreneurs and start-ups to the tune of AED 20 million from private sector project partners, and 1,000 projects from more than 5,000 SMEs and business enterprises registered on The Entrepreneurial Nation portal.
Also at the exhibition, two Japanese space technology start-ups discussed ways to develop cooperation between the UAE and Japan.
Warpspace is considering opening an office in the UAE, citing the country's growing status as a global innovation hub for the space industry.
The development of the UAE's space programme has opened up opportunities for further cooperation between the UAE and Japan. And Japanese space technology companies are making a vital contribution to the sector.
