The Trump administration is drafting a plan to transfer control of the social media platform TikTok to the American company Oracle.
According to NPR and Reuters, ByteDance, TikTok's Chinese parent company, will retain a minority stake. However, Oracle will oversee the platform's algorithms, data management, and software updates.
As part of the deal, a majority stake in TikTok will be owned by American investors. While the specifics are still under discussion, Oracle’s primary role will be to supervise the platform's operations. ByteDance will maintain minimal involvement, effectively reducing China's influence over the app.
Microsoft is also mentioned as a potential investor. Estimates place the deal's value at up to $200 billion, making it one of the largest transactions in the tech industry.
