Tesla is recruiting workers to help train its humanoid robot, Optimus, by using motion capture suits to simulate human actions.

The role, listed as "Data Collection Operator" on Tesla's career site, offers an hourly wage of up to $48. The job involves wearing a motion capture suit and mimicking various human actions that Optimus will eventually need to replicate.

Employees in this role will need to meet specific physical requirements, including walking for more than seven hours a day, carrying up to 30 pounds, and wearing a VR headset for extended periods. Additionally, candidates must be between 5’7” and 5’11” in height, likely to match Optimus' projected height of 5'8".

The company has already hired over 50 workers for this position over the past year. Motion capture is a widely used, cost-effective method for training robots to execute human-like movements, but Tesla is one of the first companies to implement this technique on such a large scale.
