Tesla has announced a recall of 120,423 Model S and X vehicles in the United States, manufactured between 2021 and 2023, citing concerns over a door safety issue.
The recall, the company's second in as many weeks, is related to a potential problem that could cause an unlocked door to unlatch and open during a collision, increasing the risk of injury.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) highlighted this non-compliance with federal safety regulations, prompting the recall. Tesla responded swiftly by releasing a free over-the-air (OTA) update to fix the identified issue, and notification letters for owners will be sent out in February.
This latest recall follows Tesla's recent callback of over 2 million electric vehicles earlier this month, primarily related to Autopilot safety concerns. In response, Tesla issued another free OTA update, introducing features aimed at ensuring drivers remain attentive while utilizing the Autopilot system.
