Telegram beta for macOS 8.7 (230000) gained a new function that allows users to customise their avatars. Instead of uploading a photo or video, you can use the new avatar builder right in the app to create the avatar you want from emoji, stickers, or text.

To access the avatar builder, go to Settings > Edit Profile and then click on your avatar and go to ‘Customize…’ This will open a window with three tabs – Emoji, Sticker and Monogram.

  • Emoji. You can put as an avatar any animated emoji, adjust its scale and change the background. You can choose a simple gradient or gradient with a pattern as the background.
  • Sticker. Telegram allows you to set as an avatar any of the stickers you have in your sticker pack collection. The scale and background can also be changed. Currently, this menu is very slow if there are a lot of stickers.
  • Monogram. You can pick any two symbols. The scale and background can also be changed.

It should be reminded that the beta version of Telegram for macOS 8.7 (230000) has recently received a function that is not yet working: in a public group, you can specify who will have the right to send messages – all users or only members.

The right to correspond can be obtained either immediately after joining the group, or only after permission from the administrator. Apparently, this change can be useful for channel owners.

All because only members of the linked group will be able to comment on the publications. It will help relieve Telegram channels from annoying spam bots.
