SpaceX is nearing its first orbital flight of the Starship system after successfully completing static fire tests of the Super Heavy prototype, Booster 7.  SpaceX launched just one Raptor engine for a few seconds to allow engineers to evaluate its performance.

The Booster 7 is equipped with 33 Raptor version 2 engines designed to power the first stage and the Starship spacecraft.

SpaceX also conducted static fire tests on two of the six Raptor engines on Starship 24. This is the prototype upper stage of the launch system that will fly into space for the system's first orbital test.

The orbital launch date for Starship is not yet known. It is likely to require additional testing before that, including a static launch of the Raptor engines.
