SpaceX is acquiring the developer of the AI assistant Cursor for $60 billion. The deal was reported by Reuters.
The announcement comes just days after SpaceX's successful debut on the public markets. The merger is expected to be fully completed in the third quarter of 2026.
Elon Musk's company had been eyeing the startup for several months. Back in April, SpaceX secured the right to either acquire the company outright or pay $10 billion for a strategic partnership.
Cursor was founded in 2022 and quickly built a strong following among developers. Its annual enterprise revenue has reached $2.6 billion, with the tool now competing directly against offerings from OpenAI and Anthropic.
According to the report, the deal is expected to strengthen the position of SpaceX's xAI division in the enterprise AI market. In return, Cursor's developers will gain access to significantly more computing resources. Close cooperation between the two companies began earlier in spring 2026, and in March, two of Cursor's senior engineering leaders moved over to SpaceX.
