Starlink, the satellite internet service developed by SpaceX, has become available in the UAE, according to the company’s website.
The country joins more than 150 markets where the service is already operating, marking another step in the global expansion of low-Earth orbit connectivity.
The service relies on a constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit, which reduces latency compared to traditional satellite internet and makes it suitable not only for basic browsing but also for video calls, streaming and other everyday online activities. Unlike fibre or mobile networks, the system does not depend on ground infrastructure, allowing connections in areas where coverage has historically been limited, including remote locations, construction sites and offshore environments.
Pricing in the UAE starts at AED 230 per month for a Residential Lite plan with unlimited data but reduced priority during peak hours. A standard residential plan with full-speed unlimited access is priced at AED 300 per month, while roaming options include 100GB for AED 190 and unlimited access for AED 370 per month. Users are also required to purchase a hardware kit priced at AED 1,099 to access the service.
The launch introduces an additional connectivity option in a market where fibre remains the dominant standard in urban areas, but where satellite internet may offer a practical alternative in locations with limited infrastructure.
Earlier, Emirates announced plans to equip its aircraft with Starlink, indicating broader adoption of the technology beyond residential use.
